Chief Executive Officer

Hôpital Notre-Dame Hospital (Hearst) is seeking a Chief Executive Officer on a full-time basis.

Location: Hearst, ON

Hôpital Notre-Dame Hospital (Hearst) is located in a rural community of northern Ontario. It serves a predominantly French-speaking population as well as First Nations people and other cultural groups within the catchment area from Mattice-Val Côté to Constance Lake. Forestry is the main economic driver.                                             

Hôpital Notre-Dame Hospital (Hearst) is a fully accredited, forty-four (44) bed facility, offering primary and secondary care, long-term care, palliative care, surgical services, oncology, maternity and other health promotion services.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Chief Executive Officer has responsibility for the overall operational and financial management of the organization in accordance with hospital policies, by-laws and legislation. The Chief Executive Officer provides strategic leadership in accomplishing the hospital’s objectives by optimizing the use of hospital resources to provide the highest standards of patient care. The CEO promotes integration with local partners and collaborates and cooperates with the local community and regional and provincial stakeholders.

Required Skills

The ideal candidate should have a thorough working knowledge of the acute healthcare environment, healthcare management methods and financial management practices. The candidate should be able to demonstrate an ability to manage diverse relationships among board members, physicians, employee groups and the local communities. The ability to communicate effectively in French and in English is required as Hôpital Notre-Dame Hospital (Hearst) is designated under the French Language Services Act.

The candidate must possess a postgraduate degree in Healthcare Administration or an equivalent postgraduate degree and should have at least five years of experience at the senior management level in health care or related environment.
