About Us

FACILITIES

Hôpital Notre-Dame Hospital is a modern 44-bed, fully-accredited hospital which serves a population of approximately 10,000 people with its 173 full and part-time employees. The hospital provides a wide range of health care programs and services. Adjacent to the hospital, there is a Medical Centre which accommodates solo practitioners, the Health Unit and the Home Care Program.

Acute
Care

The Acute Care Department is located on the top floor of the hospital (3rd floor). Most patients on this unit are admitted from the Emergency Department and the Operating Room, while others are transferred from other hospitals. Patients are admitted to the Acute Care Floor for treatment and/or monitoring of a medical condition and can expect a short stay.

Continuing
Care

The philosophy of the Continuing Care Unit is to assist clients in maintaining the highest level of independence possible. Patients/residents are supported and encouraged to make every effort to carry out their activities of daily living, including making their own bed, dressing, bathing, attending social functions, and move with as little assistance as is necessary.

The Continuing Care Unit has 21 beds and is located on the second floor of the hospital. Decisions regarding patient/resident accommodations are made on a needs basis. The unit has a dining room, large outdoor gazebo, TV-lounge room, and a hair-dressing room for clients to use. A monthly activity calendar is posted on the unit, with a variety of activities for patients/residents to enjoy.

Labour &
Delivery

Our hospital offers labour, delivery and postpartum care all located at the Acute Care department. It has accommodations which allows the expectant mother to give birth to her baby as naturally as possible.

The birthing room offers a secure environment in a welcoming atmosphere for you and your baby. Caesarian Sections are performed in the Operating Suite.

Hospice

The hospice room is a welcoming space to patients and their families. During the difficult time of palliating a loved one, family members now have a quiet, comfortable homelike setting. We work in partnership with other agencies to ensure our patients receive quality end of life care that is dignified, comfortable and satisfactory to both the patient and the family members.

Pediatrics

For a child, hospitalization can be a very traumatic experience. Parents are encouraged to stay and participate in their child’s care. Our parental access regulations allow you to stay overnight with your child. Proper arrangements can be made by discussing it with your nurse beforehand.

Pastoral
Service

A Pastoral service is offered to all patients of all religions and is available upon request. A chapel is located at the Foyer des Pionniers.
